Promotional Concepts

I have been thinking of the 3 different promotional concepts to promote our brand before the launch to hopefully make people aware of our brand and pop up shop.

Our first idea is Eco-graffiti, with in this concept we have living graffiti, stencil graffiti and reverse graffiti.

Our second idea is to do seed bombing and seed paper, which comes from guerrilla gardening.

Promotional Concept Board 2

Our third idea is to do a mobile promotion, this consists of pedicabs and billboard bikes.

Mission Statement

A mission statement is a short formal written statement of the purpose of the company. It is used to define the essence of the companyand state its purpose for existence.

When writing your statement it helps to consider the following concepts:

  • The moral/ethical position of the enterprise
  • The desired public image
  • The key strategic influence for the business
  • A description of the target market
  • A description of the products/services
  • The geographic domain
  • Expectations of growth and profitability

Brand Logo

I have been experimenting on Adobe Photoshop to design our logo. I found the font on www.dafont.com and it’s called Ancient Greek which is perfect for the origin of our brand name. The actual image is a grass barcode – again perfect as we are selling eco goods. This brand logo is clean, timeless and relevant.

Branding – Name & Logo

The name we have decided to call our brand is GAIA.

In mythology, Gaia was the primal goddess of the Earth. This ties in well with the message we are conveying with the brand as we are promoting green eco-friendly goods, esssentially ‘saving the earth’. Also, Gaia had 4 children and as there are 4 members of our group we feel this is a nice tie!

We found this image to use as inspiration for our brand logo…we will put our name underneath where the numbers currently are.

Sketches

Here are some sketches which show our idea with a bit more detail…

We originally wanted 3 completely different pop up shops/containers to fit in with the products we will sell in each but decided this could be complicated to get the materials needed and also costly.

Structure & Materials

Here is a digital image of how we want our ‘pop up’ festival to be set. This was created by Iram. Basically it will be 3 containers, which will be covered in corrugated cardboard (ribbed) to look like 3 seperate cardboard boxes (the image doesn’t quite represent this as yet). The flooring of the ‘boxes’ will be grass as will the roof of the boxes. As can be seen from the image, the top will be open with stairs built inside the structure to get to the roof top. There will be a barrier all around for safety purposes. The reason behind this feature is to give an outside ‘festival’ feel. People will be encouraged to sit on the grass, or on the tree trunk stools that will be dotted around. (More images to follow).

Going back to our trend analysis board, the colour palette will stay true to the exterior and interior design.

Here are some pop up containers where we got our inspiration from…

The entrance into the boxes will look as though the box has been peeled open…see pic below.

Concept Idea

I have just come up with something that makes our concept stronger, by personalizing the products we sell with UCLAN students work we will then have our ‘community involvement’ part sorted.

Eco-Hedonism Trend

After deciding on the ‘Go Green’ festival idea as our concept I then found this trend on WGSN and thought it would be a good idea to take the interior design idea from this as inspiration as everything is made from natural materials.

Powerpoint Presentation Review

On Thursday we presented our concept of the pop up store we want to create. We found our ideas at this point were slightly conflicting and realised we need to pull together more as a group and come up with ONE solid idea and direction for this.

So, after a group meeting we have come up with a new concept being a mini ‘green’ festival. This is a combination of our ideas, and one that we think is simplistic, realistic and innovative.

1. Handicrafts > Accessories (recycled) > Canvas shoppers, headbands, woven bracelets

2. Organice Produce > Food (fresh fruit & veg) > Samples > Leaflets on healthy eating & recipes

3. Festival Essentials > Wellies, Waterproof Macs and Mini festival packs (toothbrush, toothpaste, etc)

Innovative Promotional Tactics

Again, looking on http://www.trendhunter.com I found loads of ways to effectively promote brands. These may not necessarily be the direction we will take our brand in but they can help us get our creative caps on and understand how simply yet effective promotion can be.

San Francisco’s MUNI transit system is getting some help from 20 Yahoo bus shelters. Known for their notoriously long wait times, commuters will now be able to pass the time by playing video games installed into each of these stops.

Coca-Cola has implemented a cool new element to its interactive marketing strategy. In an effort to promote the new Coca-Cola grip bottle, they are using velcro poster advertisements. The idea is to increase awareness of the new bottle that allows a better grip for holding.

The poster ads for the Coca-Cola grip bottle were printed on Velcro and placed in Paris bus shelters to increase interaction. As people leaned or brushed against the poster, their immediate attachment forced them to observe the ad.

Caribou Coffee bus shelters are warming commuters while promoting the new ‘Hot ‘n Wholesome’ breakfast menu. The toasty bus stops look like giant ovens, complete with actual heat-producing coils.

Colle+McVoy in Minneapolis came up with the Caribou Coffee bus shelter idea as a way to increase awareness of Caribou’s new hot breakfast sandwiches. It’s a cozy promotion that’s sure to make a lot of people warm and happy whether or not they eat Caribou Coffee’s Hot ‘n Wholesome food.
